Best Present Ever...

...Rice?!

I would like to take this opportunity (my own blog!) given to me to thanks my friend Violaine for the Best Present ever!!!!

I miss Ben

Sure I cannot eat it with chopsticks but the fluffyness makes it worth it!!!

PS: this is an inside joke, I’ve been telling my friends so often that I was missing my "non-sticky" rice that one of them actually asked her parents to bring from France some Uncle Ben’s rice. So not only do I import tea from France to China, I now also import rice from France to China!!

Back to School...

...The Schoolhouse of the Great Wall of Mutianyu

Today with a group of friends from the British Club (I know I don’t have any link with the British but they say that “Though British by name we welcome any nationalities…. Even the Froggy" - well they actually don’t say that last part!) we went to visit the quaint village of Mutianyu which is right by the Great Wall. After a visit around the village and to an old house we had lunch in what use to be the class room of the village, all in all a nice time outside of the city.

The Schoolhouse of the Great Wall of Mutianyu is a sustainable tourist project, incorporating the use of existing building, hiring and training local staff, sourcing food products locally, and making handicrafts on site.

Bird Market

...or What Retirement Could Look Like

Another Saturday, another wild excursion for Jeff and Celine while the kids are having fun at home with Ayi.

Today we headed off to west Beijing to the bird market. Our goal was not to buy any birds but invest in some bird cages as a souvenir of a typical “sight” of Beijing. In Beijing, lots of old men like to “walk” their birds usually early in the morning and gather together with friends at a park to chat. So Jeff tough that he should start thinking about what he would do once he retires and we are now the proud owner of not only one but two bird cages with all the trimmings…. If you are going to imitate, you’d better go all the way!!!

Jeffrey looking at what his life will be after retirement!

Another beautiful day

Retirement's gonna be so cool

They also sell birds and crickets

And for those of you who always wanted to know what your chinchilla coat looked like before it was on your back...

So cute
